Podcast Episode Eighty Two - a Japan & Porcupine Tree Special
Thursday Jan 26, 2017
Thursday Jan 26, 2017
Happy 2017!
Kscope Podcast 82 is one for fans of Japan, abstract beauty, Porcupine Tree and seven-inch singles.
Mick Karn’s latter years were very fertile, and Kscope continues its re-release of Japan’s late bassist's 21st century masterpieces: we’ll hear 4 tracks from 4 albums, and memories from his bandmate and school chum Richard Barbieri. This gives Billy Reeves an excuse to play a track from the Barbieri/Jansen live concert album (featuring Steven Wilson on guitar) and a chance to chat with Mr Barbieri about his new record, Planets + Persona.
PLUS, from the new Porcupine Tree box set, a rare-as-hen’s-teeth cassette demo from way back and, as The Pineapple Thief are on tour (with Porcupine Tree’s drummer Gavin Harrison) we’ll finish with an exclusive play of TPT’s new 7” - a duet with The Anchoress…

Podcast Episode Eighty - A Paul Draper EP TWO Special
Friday Nov 25, 2016
Friday Nov 25, 2016
Paul Draper, once of top-of-the-chart guitar-monsters Mansun (now producer and co-writer of The Anchoress album), has released his second single, entitled EP TWO. Hear Paul in his kitchen on his return to making records, how both his album and the Anchoress’ second are coming along, and how to get Eb to C working in a 5-bar sequence!
We also catch up with Sam Healy from North Atlantic Oscillation and Sand; NAO have released a newly curated album of their best tracks, so Sam, being a self-contained sound-designer, interviewed himself.
Plus, Bruce Soord from The Pineapple Thief took his acoustic guitar on the road across the USA opening for Steven Wilson recently. We celebrate this tour with a TPT acoustic track and a small announcement.
And, talking of Steven, this podcast is your first chance to hear music from Blackfield V, his collaboration with Aviv Geffen and Alan Parsons of Abbey Road/Dark Side of the Moon/ Pilot fame.
Lastly, we have some music from The Anchoress and Iamthemorning (both award-winners this year) from the 'rare' part of their canon.

Episode 71 - an introduction to The Anchoress and a 9 minute Steven Wilson track
Wednesday Feb 03, 2016
Wednesday Feb 03, 2016
Hello and welcome to the first Kscope Podcast of 2016.
PLENTY going on at the label this year!
We start with an introduction to Catherine Anne Davies PhD, Simple Minds’ keyboardist, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, PKA as The Anchoress for her debut album out now on Kscope,‘Confessions of a Romance Novelist’ – which is “sneaking big ideas past the listeners of daytime radio” (Q Magazine).
Some of the LP was co-produced and written with Mansun’s creative force Paul Draper (Catherine is currently helping Paul with his first solo album) so we’ll hear how the two met - as well as Catherine’s forthright opinions on gender in rock.
PLUS a track from the current album from Steven Wilson AND an update on the current Kscope artists on tour.
IT’S ALL HAPPENING!
